Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang went up against (literally) “Asian Hercules”
In this video from Hunan Satellite TV we see Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang face the World Famous Strongman, Wang LongWu (“The Asian Hercules”).
LongWu (Dragon Wu) is a young hero of international strongman competitions, who grew up in Shanghai.
In this televised event, he is given 3 rounds of three minutes each to try to push the smaller 65-year-old Chen. All he needs to do to succeed is move one of Chen’s feet outside of a small circle about 5 feet in diameter. But Chen Xiaowang is famous for his ability to be unmoved. Having trained for decades under the top masters of the previous generation, including the late great Feng Zhiqiang, Chen is known for demonstrating his extraordinary “rooting” ability by standing on one leg while other martial artists attempt to budge him an inch.
Will Chen be able to withstand one of the strongest men on the planet, a man half his age, and nearly twice his weight? In all the demonstrations I have seen of Chen Xiaowang, this is the first time in decades that I have seen him break a sweat while pushing with anyone. He actually wipes his forehead after one round. Of course, that might have been from the lighting used.
This video is worth watching for a great many reasons, one of which is to see Long Wu parallel park his car by hand.
