Happy New Year! Happy New Website!

Posted on January 1, 2014 by TaiChiCentralDecember 23, 2016

2013 was a year of many failures and some successes for TaiChiCentral.com. Sometimes I felt like I was herding cats. Sometimes I felt as if I were trying to chase a swarm of bees through a blizzard with a cow switch. Some times it was like trying to build a platypus out of parts from a rusty Edsel. Sometimes I….. Well, I hope you know what I mean.

Early in 2013 I made the switch from the manually edited website, to a complex CMS (Content Management System) built on Joomla. The goal was to create a site that would encourage communication and participation. There were some positive outcomes, but they were short-lived and insufficient to justify the time and expense. So, I’ve switched the site back to a manually edited version that has far fewer technical pitfalls. The only SAAS (Software As A Service) that the new site uses are Vanilla Forums and MailChimp.

As of today, I have migrated almost all of the posts to the
NEW FORUM at  http://taichicentral.vanillaforums.com/. However, it was not practical to migrate all of the individual user profiles to the new forum. So, I will be doing that manually over the next few days. You will receive an e-mail in the next day or two when your new profile has been created. You will then need to confirm your email address and reset your password. If you would prefer, you can go to the NEW FORUM and register yourself.

The 2014 site looks much like the 2012 site. But in some ways it has changed a lot. It has gained  a lot from the very enthusiastic support, effort, and resources that many of you offerred during the past year. I hope you appreciate that the new changes while appearing to be a step backward, are a step on the right path. I would not be perservering if it were not for the support of the community.

Thank you for your participation and your support.
Sincerely,
Ian Sinclair
